Greek name for the sacred bull of Heliopolis, regarded as the living embodiment of the sun god Re. He ranked next in importance to the Apis bull of Memphis. Some burials have been discovered at Heliopolis, but information on the succession of Mnevis bulls is less documented than that of the Apis.
