POGGIO DI SERMUGNANO
A small, three-hectare site near Orvieto (341 meters above sea level) on a naturally defended tuff spur that was frequented in a number of phases of the Early and Recent Bronze Ages and clearly occupied in the Final Bronze Age and the full range of the Iron Age (Villanovan, Orientalizing, and Archaic periods). The site was particularly prosperous in the sixth century BC, when a well-defined cemetery with painted tomb walls and Etrusco-Corinthian pottery was created.
