An important facet of the Etruscans is their regionality, based on the individuality of independent cities, each displaying a different cultural pattern of burial and production, as well as an independent control of power. Historically, this differentiation was first systematically presented by Luisa Banti in her seminal book on the Etruscan world in 1970, one of the early modern syntheses of understanding of the Etruscans.
