Australian-born designer Richard Tyler began his career by opening a boutique at age eighteen. He designed a men's collection in 1987 and a women's collection in 1989. He was hired to design for the Anne Klein collection in 1993 but soon left to concentrate on his own line. He is best known for his impeccable tailoring and hand-finishes. His couture collection is a favorite among Hollywood stars. In 2004, Tyler created flight attendant uniforms for Delta Air Lines. Richard Tyler has won three Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards and a Michelangelo Shoe Award for his debut footwear collection.
