1 Jewish (Yiddish): from the Yiddish vocabulary word bin(e) bee. This was used as a translation of the Hebrew name Devorah (see DEBORAH (SEE Deborah)), meaning ‘bee’. However, it was often taken as being from Hebrew bina understanding.
2 Among Gentiles, it occasionally occurs as an aphetic short form of ALBINA (SEE Albina).
