Italian: 1 From Brictius, an ancient name probably of Gaulish: origin (see BRICE (SEE Brice)). St Brizio (d. c.312) was bishop of Martola near Spoleto in Umbria, who suffered in the persecutions instituted by the Emperor Diocletian. His cult is still popular in the region.
2 Short form of Fabrizio (see FABRICE (SEE Fabrice)).
