Helena
(fl. 1st cent)
Parthian queen, wife of Monobaz I, King of Adiabene. She and her sons Izates II and Monobaz II converted to Judaism through the inflence of Ananias, a Jewish merchant. She spent the latter part of her life in Jerusalem, where she built herself a palace. When a famine raged in Israel she bought food for the people. She also made gifts to the Temple, and was fastidious in the observance of Jewish law.
