(d. c.20 BCE)
Israelite queen, daughter of the high priest Simeon ben Boethus. She was the third wife of Herod the Great. Her son, also Herod, was designated to succeed to the throne after Antipater III (Herod the Great's son by his first wife, Doris). Although Mariamne knew of Antipater's intentions to kill his father, she held her peace because of the succession. When Antipater's plot was discovered, Herod divorced her and expunged her son's name from his will.
