(1895-1972)
French politician. Born in Paris, he studied at the Sorbonne. He served as the Conseil d'fitat in 1919 and was lecturer at the Ecole Libre des Sciences Politiques (1922-32). Later he became administrator of Air France and the French railroad system. During the war he joined the Resistance and fled to Algeria. He served twice as minister of finance and economic affairs, and in 1953 headed the French government.
