Sachs, Curt
(1881-1959)
   German musicologist. Born in Berlin, he studied at the University of Berlin. He worked initially as an art critic, but later embarked on musicological studies. He became director of a collection of musical instruments; subsequently he was professor at the Berlin National Academy of Music and the University of Berlin. After the Nazis came to power, he went to Paris, and then moved to the US.
