Dev Genc (Revolutionary Youth) was an important radical, militant student-based organization founded in Turkey in 1969. Its membership was largely Turkish, but Kurds also belonged. In time it helped give birth to a number of other important radical leftist movements, including the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). Dev Genc was formally closed down by the state after the military coup by memorandum in March 1971.
