Devrimci Demokratik Kultur Dernekleri
(DDKD)
The DDKD, or Revolutionary Democratic Cultural Associations, was established in Turkey in 1975. It was one of a dizzying series of leftist Kurdish groups formed during the fervor of the 1960s and 1970s that eventually resulted in the creation of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). In its early years the PKK opposed the DDKD, branding it as "social chauvinists" and "national reformists."
