hydatid cyst
a cyst formed during the larval stage of tapeworms of species Echinococcus; it contains daughter cysts that contain many scoleces. There are two types, the alveolar or multilocular hydatid cyst and the unilocular hydatid cyst. Called also echinococcal or echinococcus c. and hydatid. See also hydatid disease, under disease.
