sero·to·nin·er·gic (ser″o-to″nin-urґjik) 1. containing or activated by serotonin, as the neurons of the raphe nuclei of the brainstem. 2. of or pertaining to neurons that secrete serotonin, which, in turn, stimulates release of pituitary hormones. Called also serotonergic.
