phos·pha·ti·dyl·cho·line (PC) (fos″fə-ti″dəl-koґlēn) a phospholipid in which choline is attached to the phosphate group of phosphatidic acid by an ester linkage; it is a major component of cell membranes and is localized preferentially in the outer surface of the plasma membrane. Called also lecithin.
