pros·ta·cy·clin (pros″tə-siґklin) a prostaglandin, PGI2, synthesized by endothelial cells lining the cardiovascular system; it is the most potent known inhibitor of platelet aggregation and a powerful vasodilator and thus is a physiologic antagonist of thromboxane A2. When used pharmaceutically, it is called epoprostenol.
