[L. “keeled breastâ€] a group of deformities of the anterior chest wall characterized by convex protrusion of the sternum and of the costal cartilages on one or both sides; it is classified by site of greatest prominence as chondrogladiolar (sternum and lower costal cartilages) or chondromanubrial (sternum and upper costal cartilages). See illustration. Called also chicken breast, pigeon breast, keeled chest, and pigeon chest.
