The collection of Middle English lyrics found in British Library MS Harley 2253. It originally belonged to the Harleian library. Recent work has shown that it was made by a professional scribe in Ludlow, Shropshire, working in the 1340s. Other lyrics in the MS are in Latin and French; their subject matter is both secular and religious. It is the largest such collection to survive.
