"It's called anniversary journalism. This distinguishes it from real journalism, which tends to be about things that are happening now, as opposed to ones that happened some round number of years ago. Its purpose is to stir memories, inform the uninformed (Country Joe? Ravi Shankar?) and of course to match the competition — nothing worse than being beaten on an old story. This year's 10th anniversary of free trade? Last week's 30th of the moon landing? Worthy subjects both."
