Started by a group of Swedish students in 1808, Auroraforbundet (The Aurora Society) published the journal Phosphorus. The group promoted the ideas of romanticism in Sweden and emphasized the ability of the poet to be in touch with a transcendental reality beyond the visible world. Its greatest luminary was Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom.
