   Modern name for a site in Upper Nubia where a major templewas erected byAmenhotep IIIdedicated to Amen-Re and the deified king himself as Nebmaatre, lord of Nubia. The site also includes the remains of a town and cemeteries. The area was excavated by an Italian-French expedition from 1957–1977.
