Modern name for the site in Nubia 50 kilometres south of Elephantine(Aswan) on the west bank of the Nile; Greek Talmis. There stood a temple rebuilt under Augustus dedicated to the Nubian god Mandulis. The area was flooded by Lake Nasser, the lake formed by the Aswan High Dam, but the temple was moved to a safer location from 1961–1963. During the course of this work, a gateway of the Graeco-Roman Period was discovered, which is now housed in the Berlin Egyptian Museum.
