An alloy of copper and tin. It is attested infrequently in Egypt before the Middle Kingdom, although some vessels from the tomb of Khasekhemwy of Dynasty 2 of the Early Dynastic Period are known from Abydos. Bronze gradually superceded the use of copper in the New Kingdom. It became the standard material for weapons, pins, vessels, and especially votive statues during the Late Period.
